Do You Need Assistance with Your Return-To-Work Strategies?

The Workers’ Compensation Claims Department of GuideOne Insurance has implemented two programs to assist employers with return-to-work strategies: The Telephonic Nurse Case Management Program and services of RTW, Inc., are provided at no additional claim cost to the employer.

Telephonic Nurse Case Management (TCM) – A TCM nurse is assigned to every injured worker who is missing time from his or her regular job. The nurse works with the injured worker, employer, medical provider and the claims adjuster to coordinate medical care and facilitate return to work options. The TCM nurse will assist in evaluating appropriate job duties based on medical restrictions, along with communicating to the medical provider any available job modifications. Results have shown that utilization of this team effort decreases claim costs associated with lost time.

RTW, Inc. – A referral to RTW, Inc. is offered to any employer who believes that a modified duty position is not available or inappropriate within the normal job location. RTW coordinates placing the injured worker in volunteer opportunities with local not for profit organizations, providing services that fall within their physical limitations. The placement of an injured worker within a volunteer position allows for a routine schedule, an alternative to focusing on the injury/pain, and increased motivation to return to their “normal” job assignment.
